Amen. Thank you, Phil. This was just the reminder I needed today. Been feeling pretty hopeless and abandoned by God lately, all while knowing that I can’t change myself apart from Him. Remembering that His power is perfect in my weakness, and that He isn’t quick to cast me aside, is paramount. God bless.

I guess it depends on what we want our hero's to be made of and do. Ladies (and some men) love the warmth and reconciliation of tear jerkers and guys (and some ladies) love the courage and grit of pure loyal manliness. I think the best judge of a hero is one who will lay his life down for those he (of she) loves. Second to that is stalwart character upright and honest. Human hero's will always be flawed in these regard but not the Son of God and that is who I aim to emulate and compare my hero's too. Great and thoughtful post Mr. Robertson, thank you!

Wonderful reminder! Don't we all need to ponder this more than we do? Thank you.

Perfect read Phil, thank you. I am female, but I watch very few other shows/movies other than westerns. Because of this

The comparison really helped me see and understand... Two different types of hero's going after people for two different reasons😊 Jesus #1!

By the way I have an electrical switch plate with that same image of John Wayne on it and a plaque in my home that says carved in the wood, " You're a daisy if you do"😏

Powerful. Appreciate the Bible references. You are an apostle in your own right, leading and teaching others through the power of your writing.

Thank you.

Great read my brother. It’s a blessing to know Jesus. We have a savior who knows our struggles and will be with us now and forever.

And for those who wonder about life as a Christian, I always say that Christians have the best fun and we aren’t “missing out”.

It’s sad that some people play games with Christianity/church and turn away many from the faith.

Anyone with questions can search the scripture, and also feel free to reach out to me.

God be with you all ❤️

Go, Clint Eastwood! As soon as men stop being drawn to God's design of maleness, the country will implode upon itself. By the way, it is more difficult to find real men now a days. You are a healthy example of God's design of men. I think Jesus might watch a few good hero movies with the two of us. Let's have a movie night.

What a great reminder !

The Kingdom of God is in many ways an inverted kingdom.

If you want to be the greatest, be a servant. If you want to be lifted up, humble yourself.

We must come to the end of ourselves in order to receive God's Grace (power). "I must decrease so that He may increase."

A pastor once said that there are three secrets to the Christian life: Humility, Humility, Humility.

I agree with what Phil wrote. It gives us a gut check on what's important. The article is timely as we enter the Christmas Season. As the yard signs read, "Jesus is the reason for the season."
