Sending prayers, Phil. I was a spry 43 yo and don’t know what I did…but ended up with rods and screws in my lumbar region. I know what it feels like. Blessings of healing! IJN.
Before becoming a Christian, my favorite author was Edward Abbey, because of his raw, folksy way of writing. I think Phil has replaced him as my new favorite curmudgeon-writer.
A wise and sobering message we would all do well to contemplate. As a fellow "senior citizen," I can relate to your words about the challenges of getting older. Old age certainly ain't for sissies! I'll be praying for you to have complete healing and a speedy recovery.
God is still speaking and we're grateful that you're receiving the best care and prayer! May God continue to richly bless you as you continue to serve Him and spread the Good Word.
My husband, whose 74, was taking out the old carpet with another elderly gentleman at our little church, and tripped over a parking bump and broke the top off his femur! That was the day after Thanksgiving, so he gave a whole new meaning to Black Friday to our family. Surgery, therapy, rehab, home therapy, and coming soon- outpatient therapy. He’s just now starting to walk with a cane, so reading you and Miss Kay’s dilemma went straight to my heart. You will be in my prayers!
Sir!
My grandmother told me “the first hundred years are the hardest!”
God Bless and may you receive rapid and complete healing!

Phil, I gave my life to Christ when I was a young buck of 17.
Now I am 66 and though outwardly I am being wasted away inwardly I am renewed day by day.
