Sir!

My grandmother told me “the first hundred years are the hardest!”

A wise and sobering message we would all do well to contemplate. As a fellow "senior citizen," I can relate to your words about the challenges of getting older. Old age certainly ain't for sissies! I'll be praying for you to have complete healing and a speedy recovery.

Sending prayers, Phil. I was a spry 43 yo and don’t know what I did…but ended up with rods and screws in my lumbar region. I know what it feels like. Blessings of healing! IJN.

My husband, whose 74, was taking out the old carpet with another elderly gentleman at our little church, and tripped over a parking bump and broke the top off his femur! That was the day after Thanksgiving, so he gave a whole new meaning to Black Friday to our family. Surgery, therapy, rehab, home therapy, and coming soon- outpatient therapy. He’s just now starting to walk with a cane, so reading you and Miss Kay’s dilemma went straight to my heart. You will be in my prayers!

Isaiah 55:11

“So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it…

Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord [always doing your best and doing more than is needed], being continuallyaware that your labor [even to the point of exhaustion] in the Lord is not futile nor wasted [it is never without purpose].”

1st Corinthians 15:58

Greetings and salutations Phill. Sorry to hear about your recent unfortunate experience. It certainly seems unfair that just as we’ve gained some wisdom, experiences, uncommon sense, compassion, love and maybe even finally found Jesus, that our days are now fewer and seem filled with mostly pain, heartbreak, sadness, confusion and ultimately death. I’m just a couple years younger than you and recently lost my wife of 50 years. It’s hard and sometimes almost impossible to bear, it’s the kind of experience that makes you question God and his plans for you. Faith is our only foundation and it is sometimes shaken. I know your faith is pure and I look to you as a beacon to follow, to assure myself that I will see my wife again in heaven. I just have to follow your example along the path. Love you and your family and your show. Peace be with you Brother!

It's so true, we all think we're still 18 and indestructible. The problem is the Death Rate's holding steady at 100%. I will say though, I don't fear death. It's dying that I'm not looking forward to...! God bless!
