Why They Really Hate Clarence Thomas
I’m proud to be hated by the same people who hate Justice Thomas.
I had no idea who former NBA player Rex Chapman was until I saw the above quote. Turns out I’m not much of an NBA fan. I also have no interest in Twitter, so you’ll have to excuse me for my ignorance.
Apparently, he has a large following on social media and is considered an “influencer” of sorts, whatever that is.
But why in the world would Chapman attack Thomas? Why did he also suggest that the justice is a “black, white supremacist?” I suppose he did it for the same reason that Whoopi Goldberg suggested that conservatives will now come after Thomas since he’s married to a white woman. Maybe for the same reason that Samuel L. Jackson called him “Uncle Clarence,” a derogatory reference to Uncle Tom.
I’ll get to the “why” of the attack in a moment, but first let me ask you this: Am I the only one to see the unmistakably racist tone of these comments? Does anyone in 2022 think that it’s okay to suggest that black people must like basketball? And by saying that he would only “last 20-30 seconds in an NBA locker room,” was he issuing a thinly veiled threat against the Supreme Court justice? Is this how Chapman and company treat people with whom they disagree?
No, I don’t think I’m alone in seeing these comments from Chapman, Goldberg, and Jackson for what they are. I’m not whining about things not being fair, but I do want to point out what the reaction would have been had a conservative commentator had made the same remarks about President Obama. The collective heads of all the liberals in the world would have exploded, and with one voice, those comments would have been condemned.
As shocking as it may seem to people on the left, I would have joined the chorus of condemnation. There’s just no place in America for this kind of talk.
So why are we tolerating it now?
I had a couple of my trusty assistants (remember, I don’t own a computer) do a little research to see if they could discover any example of the media condemning Chapman’s comments. Guess what they discovered. Crickets! Not a word about it. It makes one wonder, doesn’t it?
Now, back to the why of the matter. Why were Chapman, Jackson, and Goldberg so outraged, and why would the left tolerate speech that’s clearly racist? After all, aren’t they the ones who toss labels like xenophobic and racist around like candy at a parade?
If you want to know what I think, I don’t think they care one bit about racism or xenophobia. Remember what I said last week? About their mantra? “Never let a crisis go to waste.” These people know that regular Americans hate racism and xenophobia. But they seize on those emotionally charged labels to create chaos. They’re anti-racist when it suits their agenda. Otherwise, they don’t care.
To be honest, none of this is about Thomas’ blackness. It’s not even about black people at all, any more than it’s about white people, children, or women. Those groups, all groups, all identity politics is just a smoke screen. Create chaos! Pit one group against another! It’s the pathway to power.
Here’s all you need to know about this bunch on the fringes: Above all else, they seek power. But they have no interest in doing what is best for the common man. They are godless, faithless, senseless, heartless, and ruthless. They are wicked and depraved, inventing new ways of doing evil. They are self-seeking and narcissistic. (Read Romans 1.)
Is it any wonder they take to the streets, raise their defiant fists, and scream at the top of their lungs, “We want the right to kill our unborn babies!”
And now you know why they hate Clarence Thomas. He’s a thoughtful man who interprets the Constitution by asking, “What did the founders mean?”
Obviously, that document doesn’t have a single word to say about abortion. It never entered Thomas Jefferson’s mind to include it as a right. Clarence Thomas knew this and had enough integrity to say so. So, they hate him for it.
If Clarence Thomas were to ask my advice, I’d advise him to wear their scorn as a badge of honor. I’d tell him that you’re sometimes known by your friends. But you’re also known by your enemies.
I’m proud to be hated by the same group of people that hates Thomas. I hope that some of them repent and turn to Christ, but it doesn’t bother me that they hate me. I have no doubt that I speak truth. How they respond is their business, not mine. I do, however, pray for them because I love them.
I would also remind him of what Jesus said about this:
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
—Matthew 5:11-12
I would remind him that when you stand on the will of God Almighty, you stand on the right side of history. But more importantly, you stand on the right side of the kingdom of God.
Let them rant! It won’t hurt for long! Meanwhile, you’ll be at peace with yourself because you’ll be confident that you didn’t back down when the going got tough.
Stand firm!
Thank you for the reminder Phil.
Lord Jesus bless Justice Thomas for standing for life and protect him Father. May we who Love you continue to pray and walk through the narrow gate. In Jesus Name ❤️
Matthew 7:12-14
In everything, treat others as you would want them to treat you, for this fulfills the law and the prophets.
“Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. But the gate is narrow and the way is difficult that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Thanks for always standing for what's right, Phil.
